These services and instruction (sometimes called Related Services) are available when they are necessary for the pupil to benefit educationally from his or her instructional program. A child must qualify for an IEP before qualification for DIS is determined. DIS include, but are not limited to:
- Speech and language development and remediation
- Audiological services
- Orientation and mobility instruction
- Instruction in the home or hospital
- Adapted physical education
- Physical and occupational therapy
- Vision therapy
- Specialized driver training instruction
- Counseling and guidance
- Social skills training
- Organizational skills training
- Psychological services other than assessment and development of IEP
- Parent counseling and training
- Health and nursing services
- Social worker services
- Vocational education and career development
- Recreation services
- Specialized services for low-incidence disabilities, such as readers, transcribers, and vision and hearing services
